DePaul beats Detroit 71-62. Dar Tucker scored 16 of his 22 points in the second half to lead DePaul to a 71-62 win over Detroit on Wednesday night.

Tucker kept DePaul (3-0) ahead by scoring 10 straight points during a stretch in the second half.

With DePaul leading 48-44, Tucker hit a 3-pointer to start a 7-0 run. After Matija Poscics free throw, Mac Koshwal had a three-point play to give the Blue Demons a 55-44 lead with 6:07 left.

Koshwal finished with 18 points and nine rebounds. He led DePaul with 11 points in the first half, and the Blue Demons led 27-25 at halftime.

DePaul raised its field-goal shooting after the break, rising to 61 percent from 32 percent in the first half.

Xavier Keeling and Donavan Foster each led Detroit (1-3) with 15 points.

W. Kentucky defeats S. Illinois 79-70.

Steffphon Pettigrew and Sergio Kerusch each scored 20 points to lead Western Kentucky to a 79-70 win against Southern Illinois on Wednesday night.
The Hilltoppers (2-2) earned their first victory of the season over a Division I opponent, and Kerusch added five rebounds to go with his career high scoring output. Pettigrew grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

The game began with both teams playing sloppy, combining to go 9-for-25 from the field in the first nine minutes. Western Kentucky turned things around and led Southern Illinois (2-3) 40-32 at halftime.

The Hilltoppers led the entire second half, leading by 17 at one point during the period. The Salukis got the lead down to as little as five before late free throws sealed the victory for Western Kentucky.

Ryan Hare led the Salukis with 16 points.
