Boston Celtics forward Glen Davis was injured in an automobile accident on the Massachusetts Turnpike Sunday as he drove to the TD Banknorth Garden for the game against the New York Knicks.

Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss said the accident happened at about 2:30 p.m. and Davis suffered a concussion and whiplash. The cause of the accident was not known, though it was snowing in the Boston area much of the day.

Davis, in his second season out of LSU, was taken to Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. Celtic president of basketball operations Danny Ainge went to the hospital to be with Davis.

The Celtics said after the game that Davis had been released. Twiss said he did not know how long Davis would be sidelined.
