Surgery delayed for former UNLV coach Tarkanian

The operation had been scheduled for Tuesday in California. The Las Vegas Sun reports that Tarkanians son, Danny Tarkanian, says his fathers blood is too thin for surgery.
Doctors at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla will monitor the 79-year-old Tarkanian the next few days. They are to remove a bone spur pressing on the spinal cord. Tarkanian has had difficulty walking for several years.
The coach had a 509-105 record at UNLV from 1973 to 1992, including the 1990 NCAA championship.
