SIU guard Hare suspended after weekend arrest
September 23rd, 2009 Posted in NCAA basketball news, NCAA college basketballSouthern Illinois guard Ryan Hare has been suspended indefinitely after being charged with aggravated battery and criminal trespassing in connection with a weekend disturbance.
Salukis coach Chris Lowery announced the suspension Monday, two days after Hares arrest. Lowery says Hare wont be allowed to participate in team activities.
Police say the incident involved one of Hares acquaintances, who was treated at a hospital.
Hare started all but five of the Salukis games last season, averaging nearly eight points and three rebounds per game.
Hare is free on bond but couldnt be reached for comment Tuesday. He doesnt have a listed telephone number, and its unclear if he has an attorney.
